The Admissions Committee emphasizes a holistic review process that examines the entirety of an applicant's academic aptitude, motivation, problem-solving skills, leadership potential and life experiences. Admission decisions are individualized to the specific attributes of the applicant.

  • Transcripts: Submit official transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions you have attended and/or from which you earned credit. Official transcripts must be sent electronically by the institution to enroll@jefferson.edu or mailed to the address below. Before applying to Jefferson, please review the prerequisites required for admission for this academic program.
  • Personal Statement: Submit a statement of purpose outlining your interest in the program, how the course of study relates to your desired career path, and your academic and job-related experiences that are relevant to the program.

You will receive a MyJefferson identification number via email once you submit your application for admission. Be sure to include your name and MyJefferson ID on all documents that you mail to Jefferson.

An admissions interview is required. Qualified applicants will be contacted to schedule an interview after all supporting application materials are received and a preliminary review by the Admissions Committee has been conducted.

    *The “Other Sciences w/ Lab” section provides examples of science courses with laboratories (4 credits each) that would satisfy the prerequisite credits. Of the “Other Science w/ Lab” options, Microbiology, Molecular Bio, Cell Bio, Immunology, and Genetics courses must be completed within 10 years of enrollment to Jefferson. Additional courses may be considered to satisfy these requirements. Please contact your admissions counselor with any questions.
    **Acceptable elective courses are theory-based—not performance-based—coursework. We will not accept coursework that is remedial or review in nature, or courses taken as Pass/Fail. Coursework may include Arts, Humanities, Social Science, Foreign Languages, Science, Business, Math and History.

    Medical Laboratory Technology Students: Students who have earned an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology/Technician from a NAACLS accredited program do not need to meet the individual course by course prerequisites list above. The conferred associate’s degree is equivalent to the listed prerequisites. Military experience related to Medical Laboratory Technology/Technician will be evaluated on a case by case basis.

    Prerequisite Coursework Requirements:
    • All prerequisite courses must be completed at a regionally accredited institution or at Thomas Jefferson University.
    • Prerequisite courses are required to be completed with a grade of “C” or above.
    • Non-science prerequisite credit can be earned through standardized tests such as AP, IB, and CLEP.
    • Credits are calculated on a semester scale; if courses are taken on a quarter scale, they may not be equivalent. Please contact your admissions counselor with any questions.

I-20 Forms for F-1 student status and DS-2019 for J-1 student status are only available for full-time and on-campus programs. Individuals of other immigration statuses must ensure that their current status permits study in their intended program by its start date and for its entirety.

Transcripts: Students who have taken coursework outside of the United States must submit a course-by-course academic credential evaluation from a National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) member credentialing organization.

English Language Exam Requirement: International applicants for this program may be required to submit results from an English Language Proficiency Exam. Applicants may qualify for an English Language Exam Waiver by meeting the criteria below:

  • Students from countries where English is the official language.
  • Students who studied in the United States for 3 or more years and received a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in the U.S.
Applicants who don't qualify for an exam waiver may satisfy the English Language Proficiency requirement by completing an English Language Program/Courses (ELS Education Services ELS 112 or English Comp I & II with a C or better) or by submitting one of the following:
  • TOEFL: 80 IBT (no sub-score below 20); exam must be taken within the last two years
  • TOEFL Essentials: 8.5 (no sub-score below 8); exam must be taken within the last two years
  • IELTS: 6.5 (no sub-score below 6); exam must be taken within the last two years
  • Duolingo Exam: 115
  • Pearson PTE Academic Exam: 53
  • SAT: 500 Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (EBRW)
  • ACT: 19 English minimum
