Master Class Series: The Art of Shared Decision Making

Monday, December 7, 2020 at 7:00 PM until 8:00 PMEastern Standard Time UTC -05:00

Shared decision making is highly complex in reproductive and maternity care systems, where engaging in coercion and autonomy battles is commonplace. Honoring the sovereignty of individuals in our care is a hallmark of midwifery, and engaging in shared decision making is a skill that requires both training and intuition. Advantages include increased likelihood of adherence to treatment recommendations (which may improve outcomes), improved satisfaction (which may improve long-term psychosocial outcomes), and decreased likelihood of litigation.

This session is designed for students interested in our doctoral, master and/or certificate programs in health.
